Getting paid with StoreDrop

Connect your own payment account once — after that, every invoice and every mobile money prompt sends the money straight to you.

The most important thing to understand

StoreDrop never touches your money. When your customer pays, the money goes directly into your own Paystack or Stripe account — the same way it would if you used those services without StoreDrop. We take no commission on your sales. Connecting payments simply means telling StoreDrop which account is yours, so it can show payment buttons on your invoices and send mobile money prompts from your Seller Terminal.

Which one should I connect?

Paystack

For businesses in Africa

Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt. Your customers pay with their country's own methods — mobile money in Ghana (MTN, Telecel, AT) and Kenya (M-Pesa), bank transfer & USSD in Nigeria, and cards everywhere. Paystack pays out to your bank or MoMo account. If your business is in Africa, this is the one you want.

Stripe

For businesses everywhere else

US, UK, Europe, UAE, and 40+ other countries. Your customers pay by card (Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and more). Stripe pays out to your bank account. You can connect both if you run businesses in different regions.

What is a "secret key"?

When you open a Paystack or Stripe account, they give you a secret key — a long code that starts with sk_. Think of it as the key to your shop's money door: whoever holds it can act on your account. You paste it into StoreDrop once. StoreDrop checks with the provider that it's real, locks it away encrypted, and never shows it to anyone again — not even to you. You can disconnect it at any time, and if you ever feel it was exposed, you can generate a new key in your provider's dashboard.

Connect Paystack (step by step)

  1. 1

    Create your Paystack account

Go to paystack.com→ Create free account. Choose your country and follow their business verification (they'll ask for your business details — this is Paystack's requirement for paying money out to you, not StoreDrop's).

  2. 2

    Find your secret key

In the Paystack Dashboard: Settings → API Keys & Webhooks. You'll see two keys — copy the Secret key (starts with sk_live_). Ignore the "public key".

New account still being verified? Use the sk_test_ key for now — everything works with pretend money so you can practice, then swap to the live key when Paystack approves your business.

  3. 3

    Paste it into StoreDrop

In StoreDrop: Manage → Payment Setup → paste the key into the Paystack card → Connect. StoreDrop verifies it with Paystack on the spot — a typo is rejected immediately, so if it says Connected, it works.

  4. 4

You're done — but check your currency

Your currency tells StoreDrop which country's payment methods to use, so set it in Manage → Settings first. Mobile money prompts at the Seller Terminal work for GHS (Ghana) and KES (Kenya — M-Pesa) businesses. Invoice payment buttons appear for GHS, NGN, ZAR, KES, XOF, and EGP— and the payment page automatically shows what's right for your country (bank transfer & USSD for Nigeria, EFT for South Africa, momo for Ghana/Kenya/Côte d'Ivoire).

The webhook URL shown on the Payment Setup page is optional — payments confirm automatically without it; adding it in Paystack just makes confirmations a little faster.

Connect Stripe (step by step)

  1. 1

    Create your Stripe account

Go to stripe.com → Start now. Complete their activation form (business details and the bank account where you want your payouts).

  2. 2

    Find your secret key

In the Stripe Dashboard: Developers → API keys → reveal and copy the Secret key (starts with sk_live_). While your account is still being activated you can use the test key the same way.

  3. 3

    Paste it into StoreDrop

Manage → Payment Setup → paste into the Stripe card → Connect. That's the whole setup — no webhooks, no extra configuration. Card payment buttons appear on your invoices immediately.

What changes once you're connected

  • Invoices— the secure invoice link you send customers now shows a pay button ("Pay with Mobile Money or Card" for Paystack, a card checkout for Stripe). When they pay, the invoice marks itself Paid and the customer gets an email receipt automatically.
  • Seller Terminal(Paystack + GHS) — choose Mobile Money as the payment method and the terminal pushes an approval prompt to the customer's phone. The sale only records when the money is confirmed.
  • Your payouts— Paystack and Stripe send the money to your bank/MoMo on their normal payout schedule. StoreDrop shows what was paid; your provider's dashboard remains your statement of record.

Common questions

Does StoreDrop charge fees on my sales?

No. You pay only your provider's normal transaction fees (Paystack/Stripe), exactly as you would without StoreDrop. StoreDrop's only cost is your subscription plan.

Is my key safe?

It's verified with the provider, then stored encrypted. It is never shown in the app again and never sent to a customer's browser. Disconnect at any time from Payment Setup, and you can always rotate the key at your provider.

It says my key was rejected — why?

Usually a copy-paste miss (a space, or the public key instead of the secret key — the secret one starts with sk_), or a key that was rolled/deactivated in the provider dashboard. Copy it again fresh.

Can my staff see or change the keys?

No — only the organization owner can open Payment Setup.

What if I don't connect anything?

Everything else still works. Invoices show bank-transfer instructions instead of a pay button, and you record payments manually. Connect whenever you're ready.

Ready to get paid?

It takes about two minutes if you already have a Paystack or Stripe account.
